Hunting is Barbaric. - MYTH

A sad attempt to try to attack hunting by using emotive word associations rather than facts.

Hunting is Barbaric. What does that actually mean?

Well, modern usage of the word "barbaric" commonly has it meaning that something is bad or wrong.

The effect they are aiming at is :

They say hunting is "barbaric", I know that "barbaric" things are wrong, therefore hunting must be wrong. QED.

It's a very clever tactic.

They make you subconsciously persuade yourself that hunting is wrong, with out even having to explain why it is wrong.

Because the word itself certainly doesn't tell you.

What is the definition of Barbaric?

Barbaric means "Barbarians did it".

Wow. Golly gosh.

By that definition :

• loving your children is "barbaric"
• honouring your parents is "barbaric"
• getting married is "barbaric"
• eating lunch is "barbaric"
• even going to the lavatory is "barbaric"

So what?

There is nothing intrinsically wrong with an activity being one that also used to be carried out by Barbarians.

The anti-hunters only use terms like this because they can think of nothing better to say, and it is a very cheap tactic.

Their constant need to retreat to the use of emotive language only highlights their shortage of real arguments.
