Hunters are cowards. - MYTH
This particular claim has always puzzled me.
Hunting may or may not be many things dependent on your outlook, but the one thing that I do not think that anyone could claim it to be is SAFE.
Following hounds on a horse is a dangerous equestrian activity, involving riding at speed, negotiating tricky terrain, slippery surfaces, and jumping whatever obstacles come into your path.
There many opportunities for accidents whilst out hunting, and many people do injure themselves each year. I do not think that it is possible to claim that hunting is "safe", any more than it is possible to claim that show jumping or racing are "safe".
Working on the theory that it takes a certain amount of courage to do what is known to be a fundamentally unsafe activity, there appears to be little sense in the accusation that hunters are "cowards".
Perhaps this claim comes from the claim that "hunters are "Bullies" because we outnumber the fox".
I assume that they are working on the theory that bullies are cowards, but the real reason that they use this word is because it is emotive. And, as discussed elsewhere, the anti hunters love to use emotive words to hide their basic lack of factual argument.
